Majesty 2

I've been looking for a Caesar IV-like game for a while now. I came across Majesty and Majesty 2 and thought hey I'll give 'em a crack. I settled with Majesty 2 because reviews say they keep the Majesty essence in the second one so I just went and got a better version. Their tagline is 'the fantasy kingdom sim'. So am I satisfied with the 'simness' of it? Well, to be fair, I'm only 3/4 done with the campaign. However, I did expect I could actually keep on building my city and keep my heroes instead of having to start over with meagre amount of cash every new campaign. I guess it would be better if the campaigns occur as I build my city and men/ladies. Maybe they could just limit the number of heroes I can have or just make the monsters crazy hard to kill.

Another thing is, the heroes can be too materialistic as they have their own "will". I mean hey 100 gold is a lot of gold to kill a rat that's killing off your fellow countrymen. sheesh. A redeeming feature is lordship, where you get to keep a favourite hero once you've successfully finished a campaign. From then on, you'll get to call on them in your next campaign. I have to admit that the graphics are sweet and the characters have funny voices and lines: 'Tax collector!' goes the tax collector. 'One day I'll lose a fight, but not today,' goes a victorious Warrior.  'Gimme a hand!' goes a dying Ranger. All in all, it's good fun although I'll have to keep looking.  Ta ra~
