The Big Kahuna rang me this morning from work saying he's glad I'm blogging again. He then proceeded to question why I failed to include our new kitten in the catch-up list (RE: previous post). So here's a little bit about him.
He was born in Toodyay on January the second of this year. He is blue-gray in colour and is a cross between a Persian and a Scottish fold (he's got folded ears). I initially wanted to name him Huckleberry Finn but given the racism-charged claims against the book named for this character, I decided to find a different name. I settled on Hironaka, after Hironaka Heisuke, a Japanese mathematician :) We call him Hiro for short.
Tidbits about the breed: Scottish folds with folded ears (normal-eared ones are called Scottish shorthair) should not be bred together as the dominant fold gene is linked to severe bone diseases. Therefore, Scottish folds are ethically (hopefully all the time) mated with non folded-eared breeds.
Hiro has only been here 4 days yet he'd adjusted fairly well. He talks/mews a lot and hates being left alone for more than 5 minutes. His favourite spot is behind the curtain in our room. He eats a lot and on his way to becoming rotund if we're not discipline. He's also a very playful kitten and basks in attention. All in all, a great companion :)

I'd love to elaborate about the mathematician too but I have little knowledge regarding his field so a Google search would suffice to uncover his biography, methinks :) Ta ra~
