Okay, the other movie we saw was Sucker Punch. I really was hooked on trailers and wanted to see it to the point of obsession. I had no idea what it was about except that it looked super cool.
It turned out to be a dark movie, touching on nasty topics that unfortunately we hear a lot about these days. Naturally, being in a nasty environment causes one to retreat into a fantasy world; a world where you get cool guns and other weapons, meet an old white samurai and kill baddies. I hope I didn't give away too much :P
I suppose the movie tries, in a way, to portray female empowerment. I wouldn't say it failed but given what the girls (Baby Doll and the others) went through, man, it looks like being a woman is only awesome in a fantasy. And boy I lapped up the fantasy world :D I guess there was some consolation, which I cannot give away but still, it is a movie not made for traditional grandmothers.

There was a lot of speculation after the movie about the dance that never actually happened, as to what it was. And there were some interesting ones but obviously in the end, we turned to Google to decipher the metaphors :) Okay, I haven't really talked about the movie at all. It's because it's one of those movies you have to watch to understand as to why I can't really talk about it without giving it away completely.
I can promise you there is a lot of action, although it did get repetitive, a lot of characters to like and loathe and cool outfits and did I mention weapons? :D And in case you don't already know, the soundtrack is to die for! So, did I get sucker punched? If, by sucker punch you mean did I get weirded out, then yes. But I like weird so I gave it 8/10 :) Ta ra~
